Window Manager Manual

Basics

Window Manager is a remake of Aero Snap. It allows you to divide the screen up into sections to place windows exactly where you want them.

Main Window

To move or resize a window, ensure it is active, and then left click the icon in the task bar.

  1. Window title- the window that will be resized
  2. Opens the tools menu. See "Tools".
  3. Snaps the active window. See "Snapping Windows".
  4. Moves the active window to the centre of the active screen.
  5. Morph the active window to a QuickSize. See "QuickSizes".

Snapping Windows

To snap a window to a grid, ensure you are on the snap option. Simply drag a selection across multiple squares. When you release the mouse, the window will be assigned to that size. To cancel a selection, press escape.

Tools

  1. Snaps the active window. See "Snapping Windows".
  2. Moves the active window to the centre of the active screen.
  3. Restores the window to the position and size it was before it was morphed using Window Manager.
  4. Shows the location and size of the current window.
  5. Shows the options window. See "Options".

Options

The options page can be accessed through the tools menu. See "Tools".

  1. Sets the definition of the grid (width by height).
  2. Sets windows-wide shortcuts to access the functions quickly. To change the shortcut, click the blue hyperlink.
  3. Use a block colour for the background colour of the main window.
  4. Use a picture for the background of the main window.
  5. Select a picture or colour to use for the background. Window Manager will automatically detect whether to use a dark or light contrast colour.
  6. List of the current QuickSizes. See "QuickSizes".
  7. Add/edit/remove a QuickSize. See "QuickSizes".
  8. Reorder QuickSizes.

QuickSizes

You can add, edit or remove QuickSizes from the options page. See "Options".

  1. The name to show in the menu.
  2. Option whether or not to move the window.
  3. Option whether or not to resize the window.
  4. Location and size parameters. (x, y) and Width by Height.
  5. Monitor in which the window should be placed.
  6. Windows-wide shortcut to apply the QuickSize. To change the shortcut, click the blue hyperlink.

Banning Window Entries

To ignore certain window titles when finding the active window, create a text file called "BannedItems" with no extension in the application's directory. In this file, add the window titles you wish to ban, one per line.
